September Editorial
What do we long for in September, returning from the hottest summer of the last twenty years with tanned skin and sun-lightened hair? We want to rediscover the energy to face a new season that promises to be anything but simple, amid the upcoming elections, increasingly worrying news of price hikes, the endless war in Ukraine, and the cursed Covid variants that continue to circulate. We long for fresh air, for a few thunderstorms, for a sweater over our shoulders to make us feel secure, but above all, we want to show up at work, with family, or with friends at our absolute best. Why not start by peeking at the shop windows and online for something new that makes us feel beautiful?
The first piece of advice is to look at yourself in the mirror and like what you see: every woman has her own beauty that should be analyzed and cultivated with love and intelligence. A few years ago, I wrote a book titled “Sei perfetta e non lo sai” (You are perfect and you don’t know it) to share an idea that has always been close to my heart: beauty has a thousand faces, all different and special, and everyone must find it within themselves with a critical spirit but also with a touch of cleverness to highlight strengths and hide flaws. Because obviously we all have them, flaws, but usually we see them more than others do.
When Daniela and I created the Crida project two years ago, we had a very inclusive fashion concept in mind: to create dresses that could fit all women, of every age and size; refined yet incredibly comfortable clothes that get the wearer noticed without being too sexy, tight, or flashy. Clothes to feel good in, to feel beautiful in. And after four collections, and after gathering all the positive feedback from those who wear Crida, we are truly convinced that we are on the right path—that of refined but easy elegance which you can find in the new winter collection, already available online and soon in the best stores in Italy.
So, the second piece of advice is to get moving again; there is much to be done and it must be done well, with commitment and also with elegance.
The Crida Fall-Winter collection is dedicated to Lombardy, the region symbolizing “working style,” the land of business and industry. It is perfect because every woman can find that right piece that allows her to return to work feeling… perfect. Silk or wool dresses (see the Como and Salò models) are always our trademark, Italian fabrics our plus, and brilliant colors like electric blue, pink, or caramel help us shine and rediscover the energy needed to restart city life. Besides the dresses, however, you will find in this collection special pieces that complete the outfit, such as jackets (not coincidentally named Monza and Brianza) in velvet and houndstooth wool to throw over your shoulders when the long-awaited cool weather arrives, or the new silk shirts in blue-and-white stripes that will be a must for the coming season.
The third piece of advice is the most important: never forget to dance (perhaps wearing a Vanessa dress, very short and with wide butterfly sleeves). We all have more or less demanding and stressful lives, but let’s always gift ourselves a moment of fun, alone or in company. Let’s do it in solidarity with Sanna Marin, the young and beautiful Finnish Prime Minister who was the subject of shameful attacks for enjoying herself at a private party, but let’s also do it to prove that women—who today lead companies, countries, or even just their own families—do not lose a shred of credibility or skill if they indulge in a wild dance. Because unlike men, girls, we are able to do several things at once. And do them well.
