March 2024 Editorial
Thank you, King Giorgio, for saying it: “I’m fed up with seeing a madwoman walking around in her underwear in Via Montenapoleone in Milan. Women turned into objects of desire… and if 50 percent of men love them that way, there’s another 50 percent who say no.”
The recent Milan Fashion Week, in my opinion, strongly reaffirmed this call for elegance. On the runways, we saw more practicality and style and less exhibitionism. But no one else had the courage to express the concept with such clarity. Let us dress women with elegance and not just with provocations: this was his diktat at the end of a magnificent show characterized by flowers blooming on winter garments made of velvet and precious silks.
I must say that during this Milanese fashion week, I saw little madness and many wearable, elegant trends. Magnificent and shiny coats, low heels with evening gowns, and a retro allure in light skirts paired with heavy masculine jackets. Even the corset and the hat with a veil reappeared—timeless symbols of the feminine charm of our grandmothers’ generation.
One must know the past, and know where we come from, to understand who we are today. Fashion is not only a repository of our history but also infallibly reflects the vibrations and sentiments of today’s society. Today, faced with so many uncertainties, we need something reassuring: a beautifully crafted black dress, an elegant bag, a warm coat whose decorations reflect the light of hope.
This mood also appears in Crida’s Fall/Winter collection, which we presented during fashion week with an event in Milan that was highly appreciated by the press. In next winter’s Crida collection, there are timeless pieces, the boldness of black and gray, the lightness of shaded chiffon, and the elegance of polka dots.
But now it is time for spring and color. Never like this year do our dresses—which you can already find online and in stores—reflect the desire for lightness, summer, and vibrant shades.
Go look for them on our website to discover the world of Acqua, the name of this collection, inspired by Puglia and its beauty.
Happy Spring to everyone!
