December Editorial
As is now custom, this is the holiday greetings editorial. We have reached December fighting, each in our own way, to rediscover that normalcy and serenity that the end of the year usually brings, along with its array of lights, toasts, shopping, and parties. We delude ourselves into thinking it’s the same as before, but we also know that too many things have changed in these last twenty months and that this will not be the same Christmas. It will be a sadder Christmas for those who, in this difficult year—still walking the thin line of emergency—have lost loved ones or suffered from Covid, through illness or job loss. To all those who have lived through or are still fighting against this deadly and ever-changing virus, we are with you with all our hearts. But it will also be a Christmas of “comeback” for those who managed to hold on or reinvented themselves, not without difficulty, creating new life and professional opportunities.
Italy, which has proven it can manage this pandemic better than many other countries, now finds itself facing a difficult yet exciting situation thanks to the economic recovery and the precious opportunity to receive funds from Europe that could give an exceptional boost to all sectors of our economy. However, we all need to row in the same direction, being aware that this is a unique opportunity and, above all, understanding that we cannot afford another lockdown. The vaccine is our most effective weapon, and the “Super Green Pass,” which limits access to public places for the unvaccinated, is a tool that does not deprive us of freedom but guarantees it for the entire community. We believe that getting vaccinated is a duty and a social responsibility: the choice not to vaccinate exists, but the right to endanger the lives of others does not. Therefore, let’s prepare to experience a Christmas of serenity and safety by taking all necessary precautions.
We at Crida, like many other players in the fashion world, have experienced a year full of hard work and an uphill battle. It wasn’t easy, but we believed in it: in Italy’s recovery and, above all, in the strength of “Made in Italy,” which represents the heart of our project. We continued to collaborate with workshops in our region, maintaining the high quality of our garments’ tailoring; we conducted research in the textile world to find the most beautiful Italian silks and wools suited to our idea of refined, timeless fashion. Now, we are proud to announce that next season we will be present in many stores across Italy, in all the most important multi-brand boutiques and alongside the most exclusive labels. For Daniela and me, it was a profound emotion to see that major Italian buyers chose us and believed in us, and we will repay this trust with an even greater effort in creativity and style. From the first capsule of ten dresses with which we introduced ourselves to the market in that difficult February of 2020, Crida has evolved and expanded to dress all women and satisfy diverse needs, while remaining true to our initial promise: only natural fabrics without synthetic fibers and only products tailored “zero-km” near Bergamo.
The greatest satisfaction of this ending year is realizing that our message of quality and sustainability has resonated, as so many of you follow, appreciate, and buy from us. A heartfelt thank you to all of you who allowed us to grow and establish ourselves in such a complicated moment. We promise to remain faithful to ourselves and our style, convinced that fashion, while expanding and becoming increasingly global, must always remain Italian and increasingly green and eco-friendly.
This is the wish we will place under the tree and that we extend to all of you for a holiday season that is both bright and conscious.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from us!
Cristina and Daniela
