April is one of my favorite months. There is a different scent in the air, perhaps because it is officially spring; the sky is a much deeper blue, and often a wind ruffles our hair, making us turn up our collars for warmth. Despite that, there is an exciting feeling that winter (the little winter we actually had) is over and the most beautiful time of the year is beginning—the time of awakening and promises. April is the month for making plans, organizing Easter at home or away (it’s always a celebration anyway), and scanning the calendar for potential long weekends to dream of a getaway—and this year, we are in luck! Maybe we won’t go anywhere, but that’s okay… we rest, we tidy up the closets because never like at this time of year do we feel the urge to wear something new and special. April, in fact, is the month when wedding invitations arrive, when first communions and confirmations are prepared, and when (for some strange reason) there are so many birthdays and therefore many more occasions to celebrate… in short, it is the right month to treat ourselves to something that makes us happy. Because, let’s face it, buying a dress, a bag, or a pair of shoes also serves this frivolous but sacrosanct purpose!

During the weeks of the Crida pop-up at Rinascente Milan, Daniela and I met many friends who were looking for the perfect outfit for an upcoming event, and we had so much fun sharing the new summer collection and advising on the ideal pieces for every occasion. There are the polka-dot dresses, Julia Roberts style in Pretty Woman, that make any ceremony guest look easy-chic. The Beatrice d’Este models, in powder pink or pearl gray, with georgette veils on the back, were chosen by mothers of the bride or groom, who will have their shoulders and arms covered in church and look fabulous at the reception. Similarly, the Bellaria dresses in luminous azure satin seem tailor-made for a debutante’s eighteenth birthday or a bridesmaid. None of these dresses will stop you from enjoying the party. By now, you know our challenge is to create elegant clothes that are easy to wear all day long: so yes to the bright colors of our Italian silks, yes to the small elastic bands that don’t pinch the waist, and to the soft sleeves with perfect cuffs. If you are looking for a look for a countryside event, the Santarcangelo in chiffon, with its lace pattern in two stunning color variants, is the right choice: incredibly light but with a great chromatic effect. Then there is the Cento dress in orange or yellow silk—slim-lined, buttoned at the front, and always with the pockets that make our creations even more comfortable. If you want to surprise with a touch of sex appeal, there are the long San Marino dresses, featuring a sensual and soft silk wrap on the bodice and a bare back.

For us at Crida, April is a month full of important commitments that will take us across Italy with our dresses: we are happy and honored to be in Turin, at the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Art Foundation, to present the next winter collection dedicated specifically to Piedmont. And let’s not forget that from the 18th to the 23rd of this month, the Salone del Mobile returns to Milan, which once again becomes the capital of design and fashion; finally, between May and June, we will be in Tuscany and Rome.
